Who am I?

I’m a Husband, I’m a Father, I’m a Weirdo.

My name is Jayde M. Salaset. Though this isn’t my birth name, I adopted the name after some major issues with my blood family. I joke that I’m the youngest of six who is an only child with three younger siblings, orphaned with living parents, and the most familial confused person you could ever meet.

I love writing stories that center around trauma. I’ve found that the best stories I’ve ever read are the ones where those who have gone through some terrible things have managed to grow from them and help overcome the trauma.

I read an analogy a while back that was talking about how “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger” is a bad phrase. It was comparing it to a bookshelf that had to be repaired with wood glue, and now that because of the repair, it would be stronger. The issue was that the damage wasn’t what had made the bookshelf stronger; it was the glue itself. The damage to the bookshelf did nothing, it was the healing process that made it stronger.

We all get some damage, but let’s all be each other’s glue.

This is my very first promotional poster for my book, Demon Scar: Kindling. Years of work and dedication went into this. It’s one of my proudest works.
